Last March 2013 I was appointed General Manager at GUITER’s diamond mine in the GBenko project, Banankoro, Guinea. The role includes general management of the mine, production planning, productivity improvement, HR management, financial and budgetarial control as well as exploration and mining management.
The Banankoro (GBenko) project is a well known diamond mine started by Aredor Australian company back in the 80’s. Within this concession, both latheritic and kimberlitic deposits are found. Currently the mine is focused in the latherites and production has recently being increased. Kimberlite exploration was developed by the British time ago but stopped due to several shifts in the mine property. Now, my role includes reactivation of this project and mine the kimberlitic body but also manage the whole team of professionals within the current alluvial mining business (230 staff). I’m working along with the mining engineering team, the geological team and logistics towards this main goal.
